Two new things at Mexico Club. After every classic, Mini and private game the results now have a Rematch button: one tap and the same table plays again. And from 1 December to 7 January the club celebrates the Zimska fešta, a Mexican Christmas with posadas, piñatas and poinsettias: a calendar with a gift for every day, a winter collection in the shop and quiet snow over the tables.
Rematch
A close game deserves another one. When a game ends, the results show a Rematch button under the podium. It opens a table with the same rules: the same kind of game, and at a private table the same target, the same talon rule and the same password.
The others from your table get an invitation for 30 seconds: in their own results if they are still looking at them, or at the top of the screen if they have already gone back to the lobby. Play takes them straight to the new table, No thanks lets the seat go. While the invitation runs, the seats wait for them and nobody else sits down; after that the table fills like any other.
If two players tap Rematch at the same time, both end up at the same table. Tournament and ranked games have no rematch: they have their own schedule and ladder. A party plays on together anyway, so its games have none either.
Zimska fešta: 1 December – 7 January
For five weeks the game dresses up for the holidays. Three things come with the fešta.
A calendar with a gift every day
The lobby home page gets a calendar with one door for every day of the fešta. Open today's door and it gives pesos: 20 to 30 on weekdays and 50 at the weekend. Four festive days hide something bigger: on 24 December, 31 December, 1 January and 7 January the door gives one of the four items of the winter collection, and if you already have it, its shop price in pesos. A door opens only on its own day, so drop by every day: a missed day stays closed.
The winter collection
Four items made for the fešta, in the shop only while it runs. Whatever you get stays yours after 7 January.
- Nochebuena deck (500 pesos): cream cards with a poinsettia-red border and gold, and a posada night behind the figures. The ace is a big poinsettia, the jack a boy with the piñata stick, the queen a girl with a paper lantern and the king one of the Three Kings with his gift. The figures' eyes light up like candles when you point at them, trumps get a string of lights, and a trick taken with a trump bursts like a sparkler.
- Las Posadas background (500 pesos): a colonial street on a posada night, with candles in the windows, luminarias along the sidewalk, papel picado and bulbs across the street and a seven-point piñata swinging on its rope. Like every background it can go on your player card too.
- Poinsettia table (1000 pesos): pine-green felt with a poinsettia breathing in the middle and warm lights along the gold rail.
- Christmas lights frame (1000 pesos): coloured bulbs on a green wire around your picture, with a light running round. Everyone at the table sees it.
Snow at the tables
During the fešta a light snow falls over both game rooms, behind the cards so it never covers them. If you prefer the room without it, turn it off under Settings → Display. It stays off on the lowest graphics setting and when reduced motion is on.
Pesos are the game's play coins: they are earned by playing and can never be bought. Here is how to earn them.
