Step by step

How a tournament works

From registration to the trophy: everything happens in the game, and you just sit down when it is your turn.

  1. Registration

Open Tournaments in the lobby and press Register. It is free, all you need is an account, and you can unregister any time before the start.

An hour before the start you get a reminder — in the game or as a notification on your phone.

  2. Start

At the scheduled time registration closes and the tournament begins. It needs at least three players; if there are not enough, it is cancelled and everyone gets a notification.

When your table is ready you get the message “Your tournament table is ready” with an Enter table button.

  3. Group stage (Swiss)

A few rounds are played: three in the daily cup, four in the weekly cup. Every table has three players, and your place at the table earns tournament points:

    • 1st place 4 TP
    • 2nd place 2 TP
    • 3rd place 1 TP
  4. Knockout

The best of the standings go through. In the daily cup the top three sit straight down at the final table. In the weekly cup the top nine play semifinals at three tables, and the table winners play the final.

  5. Trophy and prizes

The final table decides the top three, and everyone else is placed by the group standings. The pesos arrive right away, the winner gets the Campeón del Torneo badge and the Champion status, and the podium enters the hall of fame.

Group stage

Swiss rounds: opponents at your level

Round one is drawn at random. From round two you sit with players close to you in the standings, and the system avoids pairing the same opponents again.

Nobody is out after one bad game: everyone plays every round of the group stage. The standings are sorted by tournament points (TP), and players level on TP are split by game points — so second place at a table is always worth fighting for.

Follow the standings, rounds and tables live on the tournament page.

The finish

Knockout: semifinals and the final table

In the weekly cup the top nine are spread over three semifinal tables so that the leaders do not meet straight away. The winner of each table goes to the final.

The daily cup has no semifinals: the top three after round three sit straight down at the final table.

Table rules and what counts

Tournament games are shorter and sharper than public ones, and the results are kept in places of their own.

Short games

Every tournament game is played to 10 points, with 30 seconds per move. Tables open by themselves, three players at each.

Normal scoring

A failed bid costs double, and a player who takes no tricks pays the amount of the bid. Full scoring details are on the Mexico rules page.

Tournament career

Tournaments played, titles, golds, silvers, bronzes and your best finish appear on your profile and on the tournament leaderboard.

Where a tournament counts

A tournament has its own ranking, so it does not change the public and mini leaderboards. Every game you play still counts towards daily missions, the daily streak and badges.

  • Tournament leaderboard titles, podiums and tournament points
  • Hall of fame the podium of every finished tournament
  • Daily missions, streak and badges just like any other game
  • Public and mini leaderboards, XP titles a tournament does not change them
FAQ

Tournament questions

How much does it cost to enter a tournament?

Nothing. Mexico Club tournaments have no entry fee; at tournaments pesos are only won.

When are the Mexico tournaments played?

Copa Diaria is played every day at 19:00 and Copa Semanal on Saturdays at 20:00, Belgrade time (CET/CEST). Registration for the next cup is always open.

What if too few players sign up?

A tournament needs at least three players. If there are not enough at the start time, it is cancelled and everyone who signed up gets a notification.

How are tournament points (TP) counted?

At every table first place earns 4 TP, second place 2 TP and third place 1 TP. The standings are sorted by TP, and players level on TP are split by game points.

What are the tournament prizes?

Copa Semanal pays 500, 250 and 100 pesos and Copa Diaria 150, 75 and 30 pesos to the top three. The winner also gets the Campeón del Torneo badge and a place in the hall of fame. Spend your pesos in the shop.

Can I play a tournament as a guest?

No. Signing up for a tournament needs an account, which takes a minute and is free.

Do tournament games change the leaderboard and XP?
