Ranked games: climb the ladder from Wood to Diamond

Ranked tables are open: three players by the original rules, a ladder of their own with five leagues from Wood to Diamond, and the Ranked tab first on the leaderboards.

Mexico Club has a new kind of table: the ranked game. It is the same Mexico for three players, but every game counts on a ladder of its own. Win and you climb, finish last and you slide, and your points put you in one of five leagues, from Wood to Diamond. Your league shows next to your name at the table, on your player card and on the leaderboards, so everybody sees how far you have come.

A ranked table: the Ranked chip at the top, and a league emblem under every name — here Diamond, Gold and Silver.

Five leagues

Everyone starts in Wood with 0 points. 50 points take you to Bronze, 150 to Silver, 300 to Gold and 600 to Diamond. The ladder works both ways: fall under your league's line and you are back in the league below. Points never go under zero.

What a game is worth depends on your league. The higher you are, the less a win brings and the more the last place costs, so a top league has to be defended game after game:

Ranked points by league and place
League1st place2nd placeLast place
Wood+10+3−5
Bronze+8+3−6
Silver+6+2−8
Gold+5+2−9
Diamond+3+1−10

If two players finish with the same top total, both take first place.

The original rules

Ranked tables are played to 51 by the original Mexico scoring, the way the game is played at home: a fall costs twice the bid, and a total can go below zero. At the public and mini tables a fall costs the bid once (here is why), so a ranked game asks for more careful bids and a sharper defence. The whole scoring is in the rules.

Your place on the ladder

The home page of the lobby has a new ladder card: your league, your points, your games and wins, and how many points you still need for the next league.

The ranked ladder card on the lobby home page: Silver, 262 points, 34 games and 12 won, 38 points to Gold

The Ranked tab is now the first one on the leaderboards. It lists every player who has played a ranked game, with their league, games, wins and points, and shows above the list what each league gives for a place.

Ranked games have their own ladder, so they do not count for the weekly and monthly top 10. Title XP grows with them like with any other game.

How to sit down

Tap Ranked game in the lobby, or Play for 500 on your ladder card. A ranked seat uses 500 pesos, the game's play coins: they are set aside while you wait for the other two players and come back if you leave before the game starts. The winner of the table gets 1500, and two winners share them. Pesos are earned by playing and can never be bought: here is how to earn them.
