Eight new live backgrounds arrive in the shop today, and this time not all of them are at night: one is at sunrise, one at dusk, one at golden hour, one is deep under the sea and one is out in space. Like the other live backgrounds, they are drawn in real time on your screen, they fill the whole room around the table in the lobby and while you play, and each one is also made for your player card.

Eight scenes, 500 pesos each

Cenote

A cenote in Yucatán, seen from inside the cave. A shaft of sunlight falls through an opening in the roof onto turquoise water, roots hang down to the surface, dust drifts through the light and now and then a drop rings the water. The light breathes and plays on the rock just above the water.

Monarch butterflies

Every winter millions of monarch butterflies gather in the fir forests of Michoacán. Here it is golden hour: sunbeams cut through the haze, the firs on the right are hung with clusters of resting monarchs that open their wings now and then, and a few butterflies drift through the light.

Volcano

Popocatépetl at night, seen across a lake. Lava flows down the snowy slope from a glowing crater, an ash cloud lit orange from below rises above it with a soft flash of lightning inside now and then, and the whole mountain is mirrored in the water.

Day of the Dead

A village cemetery on the night of the dead. Hundreds of candles flicker on the graves, a path of marigold petals lined with candles leads to a small chapel on the horizon, petals drift on the breeze and strings of papel picado sway overhead.

Deep sea

Deep blue water far below the surface. Glowing jellyfish pulse slowly upward, trailing long tentacles, plankton sparkles, marine snow sinks and dim sunbeams reach down from above.

Space

A ringed planet rising over the horizon of a cratered moon. Its cloud bands turn slowly, the rings cast their shadow on it, a colourful nebula and the Milky Way shine behind it, and a shooting star crosses now and then.

Sakura garden

A Japanese garden at dusk. Cherry blossom petals fall and tumble from the branches, koi swim under the surface of the pond, a pagoda on the far shore is mirrored in the water and a stone lantern glows by the bank.

Balloons at dawn

Sunrise over a valley full of mist. Hot-air balloons rise in groups at every distance, their burners flare now and then and light them from inside, and the hills fade into the morning haze.

On your player card

Each of the eight also goes on your player card, the header with your name, ID and rank that other players see when they tap your name. Every scene is framed for the card: on a computer it sits beside your name, and on a phone it moves up above your rank. The card version is bought separately, for the same 500 pesos, on the home page with the edit button on your card.

How to get them

The eight backgrounds cost 500 pesos each under Backgrounds in the shop, and every one has a preview at a real table before you decide. Once you unlock one, it stays yours. They can also come out of the gift box for first place, like the other paid backgrounds. Pesos are earned at the table — by finishing public and mini games, with daily missions, your daily streak, badges, the weekly leaderboard and tournaments — and they are never sold.

All the tables, backgrounds and decks are side by side in the shop guide.
